Half-brother to BOSCACCIO sold for €180,000 to Nick Bell

Consigned by Haras du Hoguenet, a half-brother to Group 2 winner BOSCACCIO was subject to a lot of interest around the ring. The gavel finally fell at €180,000 in favour of Nick Bell (Haras de Meautry) for the son of New Bay, that hails from the family of the exceptional TREVE, the dual Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe (Gr.1) winner and Prix de Diane (Gr.1) scorer. 

Nick Bell, the manager of Haras de Meautry, explained,

Ive bought him for Baron Edouard de Rothschild, and hell be trained by Andre Fabre. Hes a lovely colt with a great pedigree page and has a lot of quality.

LOT 468
ROMANOSA joins trainer Christophe Clément

Offered with an additional update after the catalogue was published following her third in the Prix Ceres (L.) last month, the  Mathieu Brasme trained ROMANSA was knocked down for €140,000. The three-year-old daughter of Holy Roman Emperor out of a granddaughter of Ribblesdale Stakes (Gr.2) heroine THAKAFAAT hails from the family of Group 1 winners POWER and CURVY. Nicolas de Watrigant (Mandore International Agency) signed the docket for the filly, commenting:

Shell join the boxes of Christophe Clement in the US, who notably trains Pizza Bianca, the winner of the Breeders Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf this year. Ive bought her for Madaket Stables and some new partners. Shes a lovely filly that is improving with every race. She was third in a Listed last month, which leads us to think she has further improvement in her. Were very happy with our purchase.

Daughter of SILASOL for Michel Zerolo

SISILA, a daughter of Dansili from Wertheimer & Frère offered in foal to their homebred stallion Shaman was subject to a lot of interest around the ring. Bidding in the restaurant, Michel Zerolo (Oceanic Bloodstock) had to go to €180,000 for the daughter of Prix Marcel Boussac and Saint Alary (Gr.1s) winner SILASOL from the family of Arc winner SOLEMIA.

OBEDIENT for Haras de Bourgeauville

Breeder of the excellent GRAND GLORY, Philip Lybeck (Haras de Bourgeauville) set his heart today on OBEDIENT. Offered in foal to young sire Hello Youmzain by Haras de la Haie Neuve, the black-type daughter of Motivator is from the top family of NEW BAY, OASIS DREAM and KINGMAN. 

We love her pedigree, commented Philip Lybeck. His sire is a son of Montjeu and I have already had good results with granddaughters of Dansili.

Daughter of Adlerflug for Gestüt Brummerhof

A little later in the day, bidding rose to €135,00 for the first foal by Adlerflug out of NABETA, a half-sister to Champion German Four-Year-Old NYMPHEA and Group winners NUTAN and NAVARO GIRL. Ghislain Bozo (Meridian International) had the final say for the well bred filly consigned by Haras de la Cour Blanche, from the excellent German family of NIGHTFLOWER, INTELLOGENT and PAKISTAN STAR.

After signing the docket, Ghislain Bozo said, 
She’s a lovely filly. I’ve bought her for Gestut Brummerhof and Gregor Baum liked her from the start. There is also the Camelot factor that adds value to her pedigree. She’ll run in Germany first and then be a broodmare.

A few lots later, Ghislain Bozo struck for a son of WALDGEIST (lot 340), out of a half-sister to dual Group winner NEW PROVIDENCE. The hammer fell at €100,000 for the colt consigned by Elevage de Tourgéville, that hails from the family of Group winners BAYA, BIRTHSTONE and GIFT LIST.

 

Hes an exceptional colt, with a really solid physique. I really like Waldgeists offspring and Im very happy to have bought this one for Ballylinch Stud.

€135,000 for a son of Showcasing

Offered by Haras des Cruchettes, a son of Showcasing out of black type mare LIGHTUPTHENIGHT was knocked down for €135,000. Bidding on behalf of Rathbran House, Mick Flanagan had the final say for the colt from the close family of Prix Jean Prat (Gr.1) scorer INTELLOGENT from the leading German family of Groupe 1 winners NIGHTFLOWER, NYMPHEA, NUTAN and PAKISTAN STAR. 

Hes a lovely colt that walks very well,said Mick FlanaganHes by a good stallion and has a solid pedigree. Hell go to Ireland over the winter and will be resold next year.

LOT 204
TICKLE ME GREEN for a partnership of Gandharvi, Haras du Cadran and Ecurie Mélanie

A Listed winner and placed in the Prix de la Nonette (Gr.2), bidding for TICKLE ME GREEN reached €800,000 when she was knocked down to Alexandra Saint Martin (ASM Bloodstock), standing beside Pierre Talvard (Haras du Cadran). The daughter of Sea The Moon was offered carrying her first foal by Oasis Dream from Marwell Park. She is a half-sister to black-type performer TICKLE ME BLUE is from the close family of Group winners IRRESISTIBLE, INFALLIBLE, VERACIOUS, MUTAKAYEEF and GARSWOOD. 

Director of Operations for Dandharvi, Alexandra Saint Martin commented after signing the docket:

I’ve bought her for a new partnership between Gandharvi, Haras du Cadran and Ecurie Melanie. Gandharvi is a recent entity developed by Kuldeep Singh Rajput that has horses in training worldwide and wishes to base their breeding in France. We naturally approached Haras du Cadran and Pierre Talvard, one of the best breeders in France. What attracted us to this mare is her race record which speaks for itself, notably being placed in the Prix de la Nonette. This was the deciding factor.

LOT 192
€2,5 million for Prix Jean Romanet winner GRAND GLORY

The fairytale story of GRAND GLORY and her connections began at Deauville at the October Yearling Sale. Bidding on behalf of Albert Frassetto, John d’Amato and Mike Pietrangelo, Marco Bozzi struck for the filly for just €18,000 from Haras de Bourgeauville. 

Trained by Gianluca Bietolini, she won at two before taking third in the Prix de Diane (Gr.1) the following year behind the very talented CHANNEL. Placed in several Group races, she recorded her first victory at that level in the Prix de Flore (Gr.3). She then took the Grand Prix de Vichy (Gr.3) before the Prix Jean Romanet (Gr.1) at Deauville this summer. She most recently finished runner-up by a nose to the excellent ROUGIR in the Prix de l’Opéra (Gr.1). 

The daughter of Olympic Glory returned to the ring at Deauville once more today, where this time she was subject to a lot of interest, before finally being knocked down for €2,5 million to Anne-Sophie Yoh (YOHEA). She said,

Shes an incredible mare. Ive bought her for one of my clients, Xavier Marie, who is already involved in Dressage and Show Jumping, and who for the last year been investing in racehorses. We havent decided the next steps yet, were delighted!

€2,050,000 for a sister to WALDGEIST

The ring was buzzing with the arrival of WILDFEDER in the the ring, a sister to the champion WALDGEIST offered from Gestüt Ammerland. Crispin de Moubray went to €2,050,000 for the daughter of Galileo out of Prix Pénélope (Gr.3) winner WALDLERCHE from the excellent family of Group 1 scorers MASKED MARVEL and WALDPARK. 

Crispin de Moubray commented,

Our story with this family started a long time ago. We bought half of Waldlerche when she was a yearling, and she has produced an Arc winner. This was the last chance to keep a member of this incredible family, and not only that, she is a sister to Waldgeist. The story continues and we are very happy.

LOT 172
SPEAK OF THE DEVIL sold for €1,950,000 to White Birch farm

After signing the docket for ROUGIR a few lots earlier, Michel Zerolo (Oceanic Bloodstock) was once again present in the ring, this time for Listed winner and Poule d'Essai des Pouliches (Gr.1) placed SPEAK OF THE DEVIL from Sumbe.

A winner of the Prix Tantieme (L.) following the publication of the catalogue and twice Group placed this season, the daughter of Wootton Bassett was knocked down for €1,950,000. Bidding on behalf of White Birch Farm, Michel Zerolo had the final say for the half-sister to the triple Group 3 winner MORANDO. The well bred filly is also from the family of Group winners MYASUN, BATWAN and LACAROLINA. 

 
Shes a fantastic filly with a very good pedigree, said Michel Zerolo. Shell go to the United States to be trained by Chad Brown.

SUN BEAR joins Hunter Valley

Vendors of the Wild Card PURPLEPAY, Jean-Pierre Dubois and Matthieu Millet (Ecurie Hunter Valley) were on the other side this time when purchasing SUN BEAR for €620,000. Offered from Ecurie des Monceaux carrying for the first time to Siyouni, the Listed third by Dubawi is out of the Classic winner GREAT HEAVENS from the family of NATHANIEL and PLAYFUL ACT.

We have just sold Purplepay, with whom I was in partnership with Jean-Pierre, said Matthieu Millet. He told me he was interested in Sun Bear, so I went with him! Its a great family and her sire is an exceptional stallion. Were delighted!

LOT 160
Exceptional ROUGIR makes €3 million

After signing the docket for PURPLEPAY just a few minutes earlier, Nicolas Bertran de Balanda (NBB Racing) came up against David Redvers once more, in addition to Michel Zerolo (Oceanic Bloodstock) for the excellent Prix de l'Opéra (Gr.1) winner ROUGIR. It was the latter who had the final say at €3 million for the filly, the highest price ever reached in the Arqana sales ring.  

Added as a Wild Card to the catalogue, the Haras de la Gousserie owned daughter of Territories began her juvenile career with two wins before finishing third in the Prix Marcel Boussac (Gr.1) before taking the Prix des Réservoirs (Gr.3) the same year. 

I’ve bought her for a partnership between White Birch Farm and Coolmore,” said Michel Zerolo. “She’s an exceptional filly.
 
Following the sale, Pauline Chehboub commented,

She’s a filly that has given us so much, and while it’s the end of a chapter for us, it continues elsewhere. We bought her as a yearling and she’s given us so much pleasure. She’s the best filly that we’ve ever had. She is just exceptional, and we saw that again this evening.

LOT 150
PURPLEPAY goes stateside

The winner of the Haras de Bouquetot - Critérium ARQANA and third in the Critérium International (Gr.1) this season under the colours of Jean-Pierre Dubois, PURPLEPAY was subject to a lot of interest from buyers. It was Nicolas Bertran de Balanda (NBB Racing) and David Redvers that came up against each other before the hammer fell at €2 million in favour of the former. The filly, a daughter of Zarak with a rating of 108, is out of the Oldham family of Group 1 winners ECTOT and MOST IMPROVED. 

Following his winning bid, Nicolas Bertran de Balanda said,

Shes a lovely filly and Zarak is a good stallion. She was very well presented. Were very happy. She has everything going for her - and its for this reason that we went so far. Ive bought her for Lael Stables. Shell go to the US where shell be trained by Arnaud Delacour.

PARENT'S PRAYER for Oiwake Farm

An excellent winner of the Princess Elizabeth Stakes (Gr.3) this season, PARENT'S PRAYER was offered by Baroda Stud. The four-year-old daughter of Kingman out of Listed winner PURE EXCELLENCE hails from the family of Group 1 winners CONNAUGHT BRIDGE and PRIMO VALENTINO. Sold for €540,000 to Haruya Yoshida (Oiwake Farm), she will now go to Japan.

We really like Kingman, commented Yuya Yasuda (Oiwake Farm). He’s already given us a very good horse, Schnell Meister, that has won a Group 1. She won a good Group 3. In her pedigree, there is speed but stamina as well. The idea is to take her straight back to Japan.

€170,000 for a half-brother to COEURSAMBA

A half-brother to Poule d'Essai des Pouliches (Gr.1) heroine COEURSAMBA was in demand around the ring, before being sold for €170,000. It was Robert O'Callaghan that had the final say for the colt, a son of Starspangledbanner offered from Haras de l'Aumonerie.

LOULIANA sold for €320,000 to Shadai Farm

Bidding online, Teruya Yoshida (Shadai Farm) went to €320,000 for Prix Marchand d'Or (L.) winner LOULIANA. Offered by SUMBE, the three-year-old daughter of Acclamation also finished runner-up in the Prix Texanita (Gr.3) and third in the Prix Imprudence (Gr.3) this season.

POLAR SEA for BBA IRELAND

Offered in foal to Bated Breath by Wertheimer & Frère, POLAR SEA was knocked down for €345,000. A daughter of Pivotal out of the very talented LEGERETE, the sister to Listed winner and multiple Group placed PILOTE hails from the family of PLUMANIA. She was sold to Michael Donohoe (BBA IRELAND), who commented after signing the docket,

She’s from a very good family and by Pivotal, a very good broodmare sire. I’ve bought her for Mr. Zang (Yulong Investment), who wishes to buy mares to support his new stallion LUCKY VEGA, that is standing at the Irish National Stud. She’ll go to Ireland before being covered by LUCKY VEGA next year.

Offered from La Motteraye Consignment, a granddaughter of Listed scorer DREAM CLOVER was subject to a lot of interest around the ring. From the leading family of CALL THE WIND, WITH YOU and WE ARE, the daughter of Wootton Bassett was knocked down for €170,000 to Richard Brown (Blandford Bloodstock).

Shes a lovely filly with a great pedigree by an excellent stallion, said the agent. Weve bought her to race. Shell go to England, but we dont know where yet.

€480,000 for Listed winner ROMANTIC SONG

A few lots later, Pierre-Yves Bureau (Wertheimer et Frère) came up against Mark McStay (Avenue Bloodstock) and Tom Pritchard Gordon (Badgers Bloodstock) for Listed scorer ROMANTIC SONG from Godolphin. The former went to €480,000 to secure the daughter of Sharmardal out of Listed winner TEARLESS, from the excellent maternal line of Group 1 winners PLAYFUL ACT, NATHANIEL and GREAT HEAVENS. 

Shes a lovely filly, said Pierre-Yves Bureau. Shes from a maternal line that the Wertheimers' know well, and we’re very happy to have another of the family.

Dam of GOLD TRIP sold for €280,000 to David Redvers

Offered in foal to young sire Sottsass by Haras de Castillon, SARVANA was knocked down for €280,000. Already the dam of two black-type performers including GOLD TRIP, a winner of the Prix Greffulhe (Gr.2) and runner-up in the Prix Ganay (Gr.1) this season, the mare was signed for by David Redvers. She is a half-sister to Group winner SARKIYLA, from the close family of SAIYDABAD, victorious in the Prix Prince d'Orange (Gr.3) and Prix de Suresnes (L.).
